Yes, newborns do smile! Just look! Baltimore newborn

Recently some whack-o conspiracy theorists decided that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins were actually born weeks earlier than the couple purported. What made them think that? Because one of the newborns appeared to be smiling in a photo on a magazine cover. Newborns don't smile until six or seven weeks, they said, so obviously the babies were older than their parents had said.

Theory busted. Exhibit A. Grayson, ten days old...



Acutually, newborns smile quite a lot, but usually in their sleep. Little Grayson here was just being a ham!
